Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon today sought more cooperation from mainstream media to promote Bangladesh tourism through more tourism related positive news.
“Media is a major tool to promote tourism and we need more cooperation from our mainstream media to further flourish the country’s hospitality industry,” he told a breakfast meeting with editors and head of news of different newspapers and television channels to discuss different programmes taken centering the World Tourism Day on 27th September.
The minister said Bangladesh tourism is advancing despite some unwanted tragic incidents like Holy Artisan attack last year. “We have able to make strong tourism base in the country even after the Holy Artisan tragedy,” he said.
Menon said Bangladesh was elected as the chair of South Asian region of United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) at the 22nd general assembly of UNWTO, the most important global meeting of senior tourism officials in Chengdu of China on September 11 last.
Besides, he said Dhaka is set to host the tourism ministerial meeting of OIC member countries from November 12-14.
“All of these recent successes indicate that our tourism industry is advancing along the right track,” the tourism minister said.
